About Us

Welcome to Saron Lutheran Church

Thank you for visiting our website. During the months of March-May 2025, fourteen of our members dreamed and prayed together regarding our identity and mission. Here are some of the ways we see ourselves as a congregation. We are a welcoming, open, and progressive ELCA congregation with friendly folks who treasure sharing faith. We are a Christ-centered, loving and sharing family and a church who wants to have all ages included as part of our congregation. We value all and need all.

Core Values

Our core values include compassion, creation care, justice, generosity, sharing, and community building. We aim to be non-judgmental, inclusive, and hopeful.

Who are our neighbors?

We would say that our neighbors are us – those who have attended Saron for decades and the newcomer. We all have a need from time to time. We like to walk alongside and learn from one another. For example, when we recently hosted a coat drive, we viewed ourselves as helping and learning from each other rather than Us helping Them.

1-Where is God leading us?

God is leading us (as a congregation in transition) to patiently seek God’s will by growing in our faith individually and also as a congregation/community. God is calling us to be curious and prepared to follow wherever God is leading. Our theme song is “I Will Follow You” from the movie Sister Act. God is calling us to bring people together to help each other.  God is calling us to experience peace and be a place for spiritual recharging.  God is leading us into the unknown and we believe God has good plans for our future.

2-What are your hopes for the future as a church?

  • That we are open to the community needs, while harnessing the love we have for each other so we can love new members and our neighbors, being open to old and new ways of serving.
  • That we are a beacon of hope as a church and that our service is an outgrowth of our spiritual life.
  • That we are a strong united ELCA presence in the community.
  • That we are a church who loves each other (even when we least deserve it) and loves our neighbors and are known for that welcoming spirit.
  • And, we desire to shift from being a pastor-centered church to being a lay-led congregation with the pastor’s role as one of teacher, preacher, and encourager.

God, you have called us to ventures of which we cannot see the ending, by paths as yet untrodden, through perils unknown. Give us faith to go out with good courage, not knowing where we go, but only that your hand is leading us and your love supporting us; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
